Employer-based healthcare began in the 20th century when healthcare was mostly provided by employers paying premiums to enroll their employees on insurance plans. This has not changed. The majority of Americans, over half, currently receive health care benefits through their employers. With the risk-sharing model of traditional health insurance, many employees pay only deductibles and co-pays for care. What has changed, however, is out-of-pocket expenses including deductibles that have risen dramatically. Employer Health Benefits Surveys reveal that since 2008, general annual deductibles for covered workers have increased eight times as quickly as wages. Understandably, employers struggle to hold on to their financial business integrity when the cost of corporate wellness is crushing.

Direct Med Clinic emphasizes our passion for corporate wellness by providing employers with onsite and near-site clinics for its employees. This is not the same service as a wellness program. The aim of our onsite clinic is to provide quality primary care, wellness, and prevention services on the spot allowing employees to return to work immediately.

We provide preventive services including biometric screenings, occupational health, annual physicals and check-ups, group education, personal wellness coaching, and diabetes management counseling. Our biometric screenings or health screenings identify risks by detecting pre-diseases and active diseases.

We then mitigate the risks by creating personalized action plans for employees and providing disease management through our Health and Wellness Outreach programs.

Our Health and Wellness Employer Outreaches are designed to be more accessible to employees, who are challenged with time, travel, and financial constraints, as well as to get them back to work as soon as possible. Considering the implications of the traditional care that is received in emergency or ambulatory services, this is an especially significant benefit.

Average total time per visit (in traditional ambulatory services) was 121 minutes …

American Journal of Managed Care, 2015

In 2015, the American Journal of Managed Care found that an average ambulatory visit cost two hours, including about forty minutes of travel time and one hour and twenty minutes of wait time, filling forms and clinic time. The average patient’s out-of-pocket payment was also surpassed at $43.

Ambulatory medical care comes with opportunity risks that cost employers a substantial amount of loss in productivity and finances. When considering the efficient delivery of patient-centered care while the healthcare system is under repair in the US, our onsite and near-site clinics provide an innovative opportunity to trim down costs and get employers the care that they need.

We understand how accessible and affordable care decreases time off work, lowers claims, increases premium savings, and contributes to more productivity. This is why we strive to see employers with healthier and happier workers who will give way to a higher retention rate and attract more employees.

Health Screenings

Last month, Direct Med Clinic provided a Health and Wellness Employer Outreach for DOA Pest Control. Our team was present at 8:30, taking vitals, offering a free health screening to give employees a chance to know their current health status.

Our health screenings check:

  • Cholesterol levels
  • Blood sugar levels
  • Blood pressure levels
  • Weight for height (BMI)

A standard health screening helps you to understand your risk of stroke, heart disease, and diabetes, the leading chronic diseases in the United States. Direct Med Clinic can help you control disorders that are hard to manage. The benefit of having our certified staff at or near the job site is the ability for employers to ask questions and receive immediate answers without having to leave or take time off of work to do it. We give employees the chance to tackle their healthcare questions at the moment.
