The Free Market Medical Association (FMMA) seeks to restore the American values of free and unrestricted market between the buyer and the seller of goods and services by providing a free market network to San Antonio. San Antonio FMMA assists patients willing to pay cash who are seeking free market doctors, healthcare professionals who want to list their prices for services, employers seeking quality, affordable and accessible health care for their employees without the fear of costs, and advocates who are allies in the process. Members are comprised of an array of very accomplished, serious, passionate and smart individuals who have a history of public service in medicine, mental health, pharmacy, and other fields.
The Healthcare Situation
About 30 million Americans do not have health insurance, (nearly 10% of the population), and many are underinsured. Insurance costs are exorbitant, therefore, those who are insured may still receive medical bills that exceed their income. For Americans who do have health insurance, 67.3% use private insurance while 37.7% are covered by Medicaid or Medicare, government-funded programs. Of all types of coverage, the most common is employer-based health insurance accounting for 55% of the US population. The United States is the only nation among the 36 OECD nations (Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development) that spends the most national GDP on a healthcare system while still providing poor health outcomes by comparison.
The Healthcare Solution
To address the unaffordability of insurance premiums in the individual and small-group markets, there must be healthcare exchanges that are designed to provide shopping platforms in which proxy shopping is an option.
